Butterflys Swarm the Westerns
This years WMYA Championship is in Muskegon hosted by the Grand Rapids YC. The Butterfly class again has the largest number of boats registered for the event with 51. All year long it has been an outstanding number of people participating in events all over the country and the WMYA Championship is no exception. Expect great racing and results to follow.

2008 Butterfly National Champions
The 2008 championship was sailed at Torch Lake, Michigan and what a great club and site.
This years champions are Mike Knapp in the open and Stephen and Geoffry Nelson in the youth. Congratulations to both winners.
The regatta was well attended and could possibly be the largest scow regatta of the year with 114 boats sailing. What is exciting to see is the level of club and sailing school participation with big trailers and lots of boats in tow. Never in one place have I seen so many multiple boat trailers at any scow regatta.
Next years Butterfly Nationals for 2009 is at Spring Lake and lets see you there.

Start planning for I20 Championship
The ILYA Championship is about a month away and should be a great time as always. Contact John Spago or Aaron Lynn because they are heading up the regatta promotion for the Inland 20 class.
They will have all the info on the site and who's going.
If you have not made plans for the Nationals, rooms are also booking fast. Past class champions who have committed to attending include Jim Gluek, John Spargo, John Hayashi,
Aaron Lynn, Eric Wilson and Steve Yost. This should be a fast crowd and a great regatta.
Can you beat this guy?

Joe and LaCinda Terry

In breezy and in light conditions, consistent sailing pays off. Joe was able to head off the fleet by doing just that. In the windy conditions on Saturday, Brooke and Anne Patten were able to beat the rest and win their first regatta race ending up in fifth overall. In second place was Aaron Lynn sailing with Mark Buchheit on Freedom. Aaron drove all the way out from Aberdeen, Maryland to sail in the regatta this past weekend. More details to follow.

Don't mess with.....
One of the newest boats to go down to the Dallas fleet.
Charleston Easter regatta.
Who needs a vacation? What started out as a delivery for a friend resulted in quite the adventure. The regatta champion, Augie Barkow, decided he wanted to see if we had the ability to repair his boat in the shortest time available and with limited supplies. No problem. Having a long history of working with Augie in similar situations it was a cake walk. No, but he sure made us look good by winning the regatta. After punching two holes the size of baseballs clear through the hull, we patched it up faired it out and got him back on the water.
The racing was great in Charleston and thanks to all who helped with the "project", especially Kurt, Mikey, Dan and Katy. Once again thanks for all the support.
East Coast Conversion Party
Here are some of the pictures from New Jersey, part of our East Coast swing of the asymmetric conversion tour. T-shirts and posters available soon. Thanks to Henry and Bill, Carl and Matt for the support in Jersey. Also a big thank you to Craig and Marge Bradley as well.

The first asymmetric E's sails on Pewaukee
Sails by Quantum/Inland, Conversion by WBW.
After seven years the NCESA and its membership formally votes in the new change as of yesterday 12/20/07.
We look forward to seeing all the E's screaming around. As a close friend Steve Suhr said when he was the first to modify his boat, the one pictured above, "No one will regret it once it is done."
Thanks Steve for having vision.
